请问：“They are walking over the bridge.”中的over能用on代替吗？“There are some boats on the river”中的on为什么不用“over”？
用on代替从语法上可以，语义上稍有不同。在这句话里，over指的是一个从桥的一边到另一边的动态过程，没有方位的意思。而on仅表示方位，也就是只有静态的含义。也就是说：
They are walking over the bridge.译为“他们正在过桥。”
而They are walking on the bridge.译为“他们正在桥上走。”
另举个例句演示over的这种用法：
I'm coming over to see you in a minute.
我马上赶过来看你。
第二句话There are some boats on the river.中只能表示静态方位，而over在表示方位时指的是在……上方，所以明显不可用。
on 表示在....上"面"
over表示在....正上"方"
比如
The bird is over the river. 在河上方
The bird is on the river.在河的水面上(可能是水鸟什么的)
