Queen Marie: Choose wisely, Henry. Divorce is only something they do in England.

The quote I choose came from the movie “Ever After”. In which the Queen Marie of France said to her son, “choose wisely, Henry. Divorce is only something they do in England.” I fond the quote funny, since what the queen said was true for her time. Divorce was first legalized in England, because King Henry VIII wanted to change his Queen. At this part of the movie, the prince is faced with a choice between marrying the girl he loved and marry the Spanish princess for political reason. When the Queen saw her son making the decision without thinking toughly, The Queen advised her son to choose wisely. However, the queen added another sentence after that, she said, “any choice is better than Spain”. Which gave viewer an idea that the queen knew arranged marriage would not work for her son.
