A insist 表示坚持认为的时候后面的从句要用虚拟语气 也就是insist sb (should) do sth .C选项错就错在本该用should 而它用了would,A选项中省略了should ,这也是通常的用法.
这是口语习惯,很地道的英语题! NOT直接加STAY这样的动词,可以说是省略的成分在， 但是在英美实际应用中是直接用NOT的,还有很多动词是这样搭配,NOT GO,NOT READ,ETC.
