一、概念：只有一个主语（或并列主语）和一个谓语（或并列谓语）的句子叫简单句。例如：

Many people speak English．

Lily and I live in Beijing now．

They often play and study in their spare time．

二、分类：在简单句中，由于谓语动词不同，因而产生了不同类型的句子。归纳为五类：

1． S＋Link V＋P

主语＋连系动词＋表语

My mother is a teacher．

常用的连系动词有：be? become? get? seem? look? grow? feel? turn? appear? remain? smell? keep等。

连系动词作谓语时，后面跟表语。

2． S＋V 主语＋不及物动词

The sun raises in the east．

不及物动词是本身意义完整的实义动词，不需跟宾语。

3． S＋V＋C 主语＋及物动词＋宾语

The students clean the classroom every day．

及物动词是后面必须跟宾语才能构成完整意思的实义动词。

4． a． S＋V＋IO＋DO 主语＋及物动词＋间接宾语?人?＋直接宾语?物?

Mr Li teaches us English．

b． S＋V＋DO＋Prep．＋IO

主语＋及物动词＋直接宾语?物?＋to?for＋间接宾语?人?

这类常用的动词有：bring? give? hand? pass? lend? read? sell? send? show? teach? tell? take? write等。

I bought flowers for my mother．

She gave a present to her friend．

这种句型的谓语动词一般只限于某些双宾语及物动词，即能跟间接宾语和直接宾语的及物动词。

主语＋及物动词＋宾语＋宾语补足语

The boy makes his mother happy．

这种句型的谓语动词虽然及物，但加宾语之后，意思表达仍不完整，还要加补语对宾语补充说明。通常以名词、形容词、副词作宾语补足语，动词不定式、分词也可以用作宾语补足语。
