Preliminary Discussion on the Advanced and Particular View on Women in "Romance of Fairy Fox"

Abstract

The author of "Romance of Fairy Fox" figured a list of sirens' imagines, most of the sirens were different from that appeared in the workds of the former or the latter Dynasty，they were fearless, staunch, and chivalrous and gone ahead of men. This work reflected the estimable and advanced view on women, the bourgeon and arousal of their independent consciousness. Additionally, he also wrote the virtues of women's nature and spirit.This paper mainly analyses the advanced and particular view on women and the causes for its figuration in the novel, then compares it with that in "Romance of the Tang Dynasty" and "The Dream Of Red Mansions", from the comparisons we can understand the particularity of view on women in "Romance of Fairy Fox".

On the Enlightened and Unique Viewpoint on Women in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio
Abstract: Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio, by creating a series of images of female spirits most of which are different from those in earlier or later works, presents its enlightened and unique viewpoint on women, which is mainly shown in depiction of the female’s awakening of Independent consciousness, the female’s stronger competence over men’s, the female’s image of bravery, adamancy and righteousness and the beauty of female’s nature and soul. This paper aims at discussion on the enlightened and unique viewpoint on women shown in this novel and its cause of formation, and by comparison with the viewpoint on women in Tang Legend and A Dream of Red Mansions, confirms the uniqueness of viewpoint on women in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio.

On the Unique View on Role of Women in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio
Abstract:
In the Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio, a series of female characters are created, including spirits and ghosts of foxy, alluring women. Most of them are markedly different from those characters depicted in literary works in earlier or later times, thus highlighting the enlightened and unique view on women. This is mainly displayed in the waking awareness of independence in women. It portrayed women who have stronger strength of character, who are fearlessly brave, tireless fighting spirit and fervent righteousness, thereby revealing beautiful female in terms of their nature and soul. This paper aims to analyze the uniquely enlightened views on women as presented in the novel as well as the reasons behind. By a comparison with the views of women in the Tang Legend and A Dream In Red Chamber, the unique view on women in Strange Tales of a Lonely Studio is especially distinct.

Abstract: in the Strange Tales from Make-do Studio, many fox spirit, ghost, flower goblin, and bogy are figured. Most of these female characters are different from the ones in the works forward or backward. This reflects the valuable and progressive view of the women in this novel. It mainly displays in the rouse of self-determination and independence consciousness of the women; figures the women who are more capable than men; draws the feminine image of not afraid of violence, stalwart to struggle, and hate evil like an enemy. It has fully written out the feminine beauty of natural makeup and spirit. This paper mainly analyzes the progressive and unique view of women reflected in the novel, and the reason why it is formed, meanwhile it makes a comparison with the view of women in the Romance in Tang Dynasty and the Dream of Red Mansions, from this, readers can acknowledge the uniqueness of the view of women in Strange Tales from Make-do Studio.
