Research on Digital Television Technology and Development of Set-Top Box
Abstract
Digital television (DTV) is a system which can transfer simulating television signals into digital signals and treat, transmit, record, and control the digital signals.
Digital set-top box (STB) is an info-equipment based on computer technology, network technology, and multi-media technology, it receives DTV signals and transfers them into the signals that simulating television can display. It is the transitive product of DTV.
This paper studied the relative theories and key technologies involved in DTV system based on the project of STB development, including the working principle of DTV system, introduction of MPEG-2 and DVB standards, and the approaches in China and foreign countries.
This paper referred various STB products from China and foreign countries, put forward the design scheme of STB software and hardware structures, and introduced the whole software and hardware structure, the exploring circumstance, and the debug method of the developing STB. Additionally, the author discussed in details on the method and process of realizing the function of EPG TV program guidance using PSOS Real Time operation system on SC2000 platform.
