是音译，不单指禅，也指禅机，禅意。此外还指禅宗，也就是摩柯迦叶所创，菩提达摩传入中国，又由六祖慧能发扬光大的禅宗
至于禅师，好象对外国人来说和和尚没什么两样，就是monk吧
