With beautiful scenery, Xihu District is the famous scenic spot in Hangzhou. West Lake is in her cherish, the vast Qiangtang River is just beside her. There are all kinds of attraction spots in green mountains and water, which is the yearning traveling place for tourists both home and abroad.
Zhejiang provincial party committee and provincial government are in Xihu District. Hangzhou advanced tech-developing zone approved by national council and Hangzhou Zhijiang holiday area are also in her popedom.

There are seven towns and seven major streets in Xihu district with total area 316 square kilo and 530,000 population. She has convenient transportation and powerful economic and technological strength. In 2001 she realized GDP 2,795,000,000. Since 1998 the fiscal income has increased with a speed 49% per year. The total fiscal income in 2001 reached 911,000,000, the top of the former six districts for continuously four years.

The traditional agriculture is transforming into urbanization agriculture. A group of agricultural enterprises are growing up with amount of scientific knowledge. The industrial economy is developing rapidly. IT industry, mechanic and transportation equipment, telecommunication and biological medicine have become the supporting industries. Meanwhile some national and provincial advanced enterprises have come forth. Foreign trade oriented economy develops further and the number of scientific enterprises run by local people, foreign companies and companies with foreign investment has increased gradually every year. Tourist resource has been exploited further.

The infrastructure in Xihu district is self-contained in the aspects of electricity and water supply, the highway connecting Hangzhou, Shanghai and Ningbo. Some top grade hotels are in her popedom, such as Hangzhou World Trading Center, Dragon Hotel Shangri-la hotel and Xizi Hotel. The modern pattern has been set up in Xihu district, in which the high tech and non-public-owned economy is in dominant position congregating with tourism, trade and inhabitation together.

Hangzhou
The city of Hangzhou lies in the southeast of China and faces the East Sea. It is famous for its beautiful West Lake with a long history.Whenever you come to this modern city you will see many parks and some places of interest around the West Lake. During the holidays or festivals or at the weekends, people like boating on the water or walking on the paths of the woods or sitting on the ground to have a picnic. What a good time they have! Since the politics of the reforming and opening were carried out by the government of Hangzhou, plenty of tall buildings have been set up and great changes have taken place in this city.
