汉语不一样，译成英语当然也不一样了，试比较:
he reads newspaper at night frequently. 他经常在晚上读报纸。
he often reads newspaper at night 他晚上经常读报纸。
主要看副词修饰什么地方，前者frequently修饰at night，后者often修饰read。再举一例，看看副词在不同位置意思上的差异。
Tom is a son
?? Tom is an only son.
?? Tom 是一个独生子。
?? Tom is only a son.
?? Tom 只是一个儿子。（非女儿）
?? Tom eats the apple.
?? Only Tom eats the apple. 只有Tom吃这个苹果。（没别人）
?? Tom only eats the apple. Tom只吃这苹果。（但不买或不洗等）
?? Tom eats only the apple. Tom吃的只是这个苹果。（非其它苹果）
?? Tom eats the only apple. Tom吃这唯一的苹果。（苹果就一个）
可以看出副词在句中位置的变化使全句意思发生根本性的变化
