以上四译，都把孔圣人的这句名言译出来了，虽然对原文的结构和字构亦步亦趋，但是，较难称得上“琅琅上口”，也谈不上大致押韵。
在1990年亚澳地区滑水锦标赛暨第五届亚洲滑水锦标赛的一个招待会上，翻译官把推敲过的译文说为：
How happy we are,
To meet friends from afar! 效果不错

上有天堂，下有苏杭
in heaven there is paradise
on earth there are Suzhou and Hangzhou

As there is the paradise in heaven, there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on eater

两者选一.

好朋友从远方来看我,难道我不高兴吗?（How happy we are, To meet friends from far away!）
苏州和杭州的美丽富庶，堪比天堂。（"Just as there is paradise in heaven, there are Suzhou and Hangzhou on earth。”）
