This report speaks to both the practitioner and the academic. In providing a
set of case studies of the development of the cultural projects of the four islands
- the museums, galleries, interpretive centres, festivals, events, and related
cultural offerings - it provides “lessons” in the development of culture for
tourism. These lessons from one location can be evaluated in other local contexts,
and adapted, modified, or discarded as appropriate. The report concludes with

contribute to debate on the subject of cultural tourism in the peripheral locations
