Last December, The Color Purple opened on Broadway. I have the honor of portraying Celie. Each night when I'm onstage living Celie's journey, I feel I relive my own. I'm filled with wonder now at God. Like Celie, I believe he's inside us and all around us. So each night I say a prayer: "All glory to you, dear God." I know the audience is cheering not for me but for God working through me, turning my pain and struggle into something beautiful. I still end my journal entries with prayers, though I tend to write only on special occasions now. I want to make sure I document the joys in life. Recently, I bought more journals.
