America一般比较随意，其他为正式场合用
the United States of America:因为美国是50个州/省（states）组成的（united)。
U.S.A是the United States of America 的简写。
American是America的形容词。
U.S.是the United States的缩写。
诚如其他朋友所说的，the United States of America比较正式。the United States就比较口语化。当然，America也比较口语化，但有时会引起误会，因为America也泛指美洲(的其它国家），而U.S.只是America(美洲）的其中一个国家。
